Marcelle McManus is Director of the Centre for Sustainable and Circular Technologies at the University of Bath and an authority on life cycle assessment and sustainable systems, renewable technologies and bioenergy.

Professor McManus joined the University of Bath in 2001 as PhD student. While obtaining her PhD in Life Cycle Assessment of Alternative Fluid Power Systems, she also joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering as Research Officer. She held Lectureships in the same department from 2010 to 2018, when she obtained her Professorship in Energy and Environmental Engineering. Marcelle’s contribution has been recognised on various occasions, both within her home institution and beyond. In 2008 she was a joint recipient of the IMechE George Stephenson Medal for her work on wind turbines.  In 2011, she obtained the University of Bath John Willis Award and, in 2017, the University of Bath Excellence in Doctoral Supervision Award. In 2019, Professor McManus was named Most Inspirational Woman in STEM in the West Women Awards.
