Dr Marta Coma Bech
Marta Coma is a Visiting Research Fellow from the Chemistry department. Her research interests fall in the circular bioeconomy, which translates as using microorganisms to produce renewable (sustainable) chemicals while treating water and waste streams.
After gaining her PhD in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability in Spain, Marta worked on environmental biotechnology in several international universities in Australia, Portugal and Belgium. She landed as a Whorrod Research Fellow in Bath, where she pursued her vision in the field of sustainable technologies. Marta is currently based in Denmark, where she is freelancing for fundraising and scientific writing. She is an external advisor and supervisor for projects and students related to waste valorization in the University of Bath.
