Matthew Cowley

Matt graduated from Loughborough University in 2017 with a Masters degree in Chemistry. His fourth year project was on modelling dopants and ion migration in solid-state electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries. In his year before starting at the centre Matt worked in a formulation laboratory at Azelis, a multinational chemical distribution company. Outside of work, he enjoys fencing, playing with tech, and travelling to new places.

  • Suppressing ion motion in lead halide perovskite solar cells with Professor Petra Cameron, Professor Steve Parker and Professor Alison Walker; Industrial Partner: Specific – PhD Project
  • Photoelectrochemical hydrogen production with bimetallic electrocatalysts with Dr Salvador Eslava and Professor Steve Parker – 1st MRes Project
  • Understanding Na+ ion motion in solid state sodium-ion batteries with Dr Benjamin Morgan and Professor Saiful Islam – 2nd MRes Project
