Supervisor: Ming Xie (Chemical Engineering)

Supervisor: Frank Marken (Chemistry)

Patrick Travers is a materials scientist that works at Qsil Metals UK and is doing a part-time PhD in chemical engineering. His project aims to improve the sustainability of a process called photochemical milling via the regeneration and recycling of potassium ferricyanide etchant. He graduated from UFSC, Brazil in 2019 with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering and moved to the UK in 2020.

The self-proposed project was already in the works prior to the University of Bath offering Patrick a PhD in the CSCT for this sustainability and circular economy project. Patrick is a strong believer in maintaining good ties between industry and academia and is always on the lookout for innovative ideas and proposals that can provide sustainable profit, productivity and growth for businesses.
