Ruth Barden

Ruth Barden is the Director of Environmental Strategy at Wessex Water, responsible for the company’s environmental policy, environmental investigations and outward-facing catchment partnership work.  She is also a Visiting Industrial Fellow within the Centre for Sustainable and Circular Technologies at the University of Bath.

Ruth gained an MSc in Environmental Water Management at Cranfield University before joining Anglian Water as a wastewater process scientist.  She then worked at Ofwat for 12 months before joining Wessex Water where she has been for 16 years.  She is currently co-supervising a number of PhDs related to chemicals of emerging concern in the water environment and antimicrobial resistance.
